I'm not in a union. I don't have anything against unions. The only thing I don't have is the union fees, at the moment. Does anyone have any insight on unions and what the good vrs bad things are?

Some LA composers attended a meeting and came back with different versions of what a certain composer who almost lost his academy award because of his "commune" that did most of the work (without credit). As time went on the composer got his award back and when you read credits of his recent work, there are more names listed. Anyway the famous quote from this un-named composer was something of a threat, like "Try to get a union, I have so much money I'll work for free until you all have to quit.". I wrote a few comments on how I can't take my reel to Safeway to buy food. After that a big name contacted me and "wanted to talk". The talk never happened. I returned the call several times. There are a lot of hands in a lot of pockets. If I didn't believe in a just and righteous God, I would have quit making music, but amazing things still happen for me that I am thankful for. I believe there is power in always doing the right thing. Call it what ever you like (God, Karma - what have you). People who purposely hurt other's ability to earn a fair wage are dealt with. The richness of my life will always be better than theirs.

Then finding people like you and everyone I have met here at Stage 32, gives me the strength to look past all that. If I was to be in the position to be so desired that people would flock to me for inspiration, I could not see myself trying to hold them back. I would like to help as many people as I can get noticed or get work, even if it's not monetarily beneficial for me. Even if it's just one person that gets a job because of me I will be happy. Of course I would also be happy to find work for myself, you know, bills and all.. :)
