I'm a member of Okayplayer.com (a hip hop based forum website) and one of the members is currently fundraising money for a film he's shooting called Shankman's. The information (and kickstarter link) is below.
The Kickstarter is moving at a brisk pace. I have a lot of you to thank for it. The amount of support you guys have shown thus far is genuinely amazing. I never thought I'd try to involve OkayPlayer as a community with any project that I'd work on.
A few years ago, me and haji rana pinya aka THE MAN BEHIND DUMHI did a pilot for Food Guys that we dicked around with online. It got some love, and Pastrami Queen still has our pictures in their window, but haji moved to Philly, and I had a kid; etc and we only had the chance to squeeze out one more down in Philly.
And you guys were great about it.
So, here I am, shilling a project on a larger scale.
"Shankman's," a feature length violent dark comedy about four trustfund kids get cut off by their parents, open a butcher shop, and inadvertently commit a horrible, bloody crime that they sink deeper and deeper into the moral abyss to cover up -- and inadvertently gentrify their neighborhood in the process.
We're shooting throughout Brooklyn starting in May.
We can use all the help we can get. Whether it's money, word of mouth, extras, music or cameos -- all support is good support. The kind of support we can deposit in a bank account would be most awesome though.
