Greetings, I was stationed in England for 4 years at Upper Heyford and I also was almost killed on June 20th, 1982 when the IRA blew up locations in Hyde Park (wow and this is true). I use to DJ at The Penthouse Club at 11 Whitehorse Street (I think that's the address), it was down the street from the Playboy Club and that day i had to DJ on base and I went to The Penthouse Club to pickup my records for the event on the base that night. Well I had never been in Hyde Park all the time I was in England until that day and I had never ate at a UK McDonald's and went to go and get a cheese-burger and shake and I saw all these people near a stage as I passed by and parked my van and went to see what was going on. That day plays in my head in slow motion because I spoke to alot of people around the stage area and they told me that The Queen was having her royal horses parade by and I sat down on a hill slope and bit into the burger and it tasted nasty to me (it was just different and then sipped the shake and it tasted home made so since my lunch did not taste right I left. I'll never forget the time. I had arrived at about 10 minutes to I believe noon and I left at about 12:10. That night I was watching TV with my young 3 year old daughter playing next to me and eating dinner back on the base in base housing and a news flash came on and said that the IRA had blown up bombs in London's Hyde Park at sometime after noon (I think that was the time). Well I kept eating and about 30 minutes later, I think my mind caught up with what I heard and about the bombing time and I my throat closed up and I went into shock. The thing that saved my life was that the McDonald's tasted bad to me or i would have sat there and watched the event and would have died by being blown to pieces. I never told anyone till years later, never even told my wife till years later, sort of tucked the incident away but have had years of dreams about England. I had a great time there and loved the country but almost lost my life not in a war that I was sent to fight in, but because of a war between nations, a war where the IRA hated the British. i always wanted to do a story on this because it's true and my eyes are tearing up because I remember the people that I met that day and how they were smiling and full of life and reflect that on that day many died because of hate and a senseless cause. I would like to do a film piece with you if we can, I'm getting very emotional right now. I have to return to honor the people that died before I leave this life, because my life was saved (had angels with me that day), but others did not and I have a spiritual mission to return to that place to reflect, remember and honor the smiles of those who lost their lives that day. My email address is anthonyandrejones@yahoo.com, my name is Anthony Andre Jones, I'm on face-book and my telephone number is 646.649.6724 (main number) and my home number is 919.556.5374, I'm grew up in New York City but live in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Can't stop crying, those people did not deserve to lose their lives that way. I survived to tell about the happiness I saw on their faces because they were about to see the royal horses. The tree I was sitting up against had to be 100 years old. The news showed that the same tree I was sitting up against about 40 feet from the stage was completely gone. Help me honor those who did not deserve to have their lives end on June 20th, 1982. Maybe it will help stop the tears....your brother in arms of film-making (I survived), Mr. Anthony Andre Jones. Peace!

...wow. What an incredible and humbling experience you had Anthony. Thankfully I was not born around those times. They also bombed Manchester, the place I live now - destroying a huge part of the centre of town along with lives and families too no doubt. I will message you shortly, It's getting later here now so I'd better get some sleep. Take care.
