It's encouraging to know that the light at the end of the long dark tunnel might not turn out to be just a reflection off a broken coke bottle. Thank you for sharing. I do have a question: What's a better Pinot for a vegan diet, Grigio or Noir? Seriously: do you think creative writing courses are of value to prospective authors or a detriment to creativity?
I don't think "creative writing courses" are awful, but what's wrong with most of them -- or the ones I've heard about -- is that they allow others in the class to weigh in. I'm not interested in criticism from para-critics. They can be very deleterious to one's writing. But, it might be a good thing if you have a great teacher and he/she knows how to encourage, galvanize, etc. I was offered a visiting professorship in creative writing and had to turn it down. But I would have liked to have turned the typical writing course on its ear. Maybe a writer's group?
Yesterday we closed a wonderful play with music, "Uh Oh, Here Comes Christmas." Another standing ovation. I will miss this cast and singing the great songs. Next up: reprising my award-winning role of Lotty Wilton in "Enchanted April", this time 'round as a Reader's Theatre piece.
