moreTed Trent was born in a small farming community in Southern Illinois. After years of participating in High School and College Theatre and Speech Team, Ted graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a minor in Political Science. With his degree in his back pocket, his first job took him to Nashville, Tennessee where he worked as a Promotional Director in gospel music. While staying in Tennessee, he auditioned for his first professional job as an actor. He was cast on his first professional audition. Ted starred in "Christy, The Musical." The musical was a story based on a Catherine Marshall novel and Ted played one of the lead characters. During his stage performance, the ABC hit television show "Christy" was also filming in the same small town in Tennessee. Ted took a daytime job as a production assistant on the set of Christy (the television series) and fell in love with the television industry.
After Christy was cancelled, Ted auditioned for a Country Music Television (CMT) program called, "DANCELINE." This show was his second professional audition and he was hired on the spot. DANCELINE was an instructional show teaching viewers how to couple and line dance. Ted was selected as one of 6 men who were the lead couple dancers of the show. Around the same time, Ted picked up a still camera and started taking photos of his acting friends. His new hobby quickly turned into a new career. His photography brought him to Los Angeles where he claims it allowed him to take pictures of people everyday! "Great sunshine did it," Ted stated.
Once in Los Angeles, Ted quickly found his way onto several television programs. His first big break was in a USA Network television movie called, "The Great American Christmas." From there, he started to study Advanced Scene Study with Art Wolf Acting Studios. While studying with Art, Ted was cast on many student films and reality shows.
Ted's dream job is to act in film and host television shows. Currently, he is hosting an online television program called, "Living Outrageously For Today (LOFT)." The show highlights regular people who live and work from their homes. Ted helps them figure out ways to improve their home-based businesses through trouble-shooting their most difficult challenges. "I've always been someone who enjoys trouble-shooting BIG problems. The bigger the better," states Ted. Beyond hosting, Ted continues to pursue his acting by working with Outrageous Management in Downtown Los Angeles.
Be sure to watch for Ted in an upcoming independent film called, "COLLISION." Ted is also developing a television series which explores human sexuality. His working title for the production is "Fixed."
