Born in 1955, Stephen has always had a flair for words and has enjoyed a long career as writer, principally in marketing communications.
Stephen has run his own PR, marketing communications and business solutions consultancy since 1987 and launched his career in voice in 1999. He became a leading light in The Talent Pool in Las Vegas, as well as being an active member of the board of Media Guilds International.
During this time, the highlights of his voice-over career are a 'behind the mic' performance as part of the Talent Pool at Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, and a number of apearances on KLVX-TV Channel 10, presenting An Evening of British Comedy, as well as producing, directing, and acting in the first three annual benefit radio-play productions of "It's a Wonderful Life".
Stephen coaches voice actors and produces demos as well as directing and producing voice productions and movies. He has also coached American actors on speaking "British English" and, as a writer, he provides occasional consultancy to writers, in particular, by providing advice and guidance on "British-English" usage, grammar, syntax, and dialect; and has edited a number of works on behalf of their authors.
Now located in the creative heart of New Orleans, Louisiana, Stephen James is a highly-active member of the city's voice-over and acting community. He is founder and president of The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation, a non-profit organization providing voice-over workshops and resources for actors and aspiring voice talent; while he has worked on a number of voice productions, including the annual NOLA benefit 'behind the mic' radio play of the classic movie It's a Wonderful Life for which he is co-producer, director, and voice actor (as Clarence). Stephen is also producer and director of "The GooNOLAs" - a radio-comedy production performed before a live audience and loosely-based upon the comedy of the 50s classic British radio-show "The Goon Show".
In September 2010 Stephen launched The NEW ORLEANS Voice Agency, believed to be the only specialist voice talent agency in the New Orleans region.
