Millicent, and her son, Jarrett mourn the deaths of her husband, and his twin brother, Garrett, who were killed in an accident one year ago. Although Millicent is still saddened by her son's and husband's death, she is worried about her remaining child,Jarrett. He is convinced his twin brother and father still lives, and is attempting to find a way to bring him and his mother to them. When his mother disputes these thoughts, he claims he's been visited by a short,chubby man that carries a cane in his hand, and wears a black top hat. Millicent becomes increasingly worried about Jarrett, and succumbs to the idea of bringing in a therapist to council him. Millicent and Jarret are growing apart with their disagreement. But, as the therapy begins, Millicent starts seeing apparitions and shadows as she's mulling about her home. She even experiences an all too real dream of her husband, lying in bed with her. Is she going crazy too? Or, does her son know something she's yet to learn? She finds herself suddenly wishing she could see the man in the top hat, or awake from the nightmare she now finds herself, and Jarrett caught in.
