Until Sun Comes Up Again

An independent feature film, aiming to complete for a price of a new car, is set in modern Tokyo where our heroin is guided into the different side of the city.

It is Tokyo’s night life that various personalities from all over the world gather that is a little known to even the people living in the city.

Structured as the modern version of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and in a way it is “Lost in Translation” retrograded – Japanese going through the “foreign” side of the native city.

Story:
While being overwhelmed with work at a commercial production company, the newly graduate Arisa is barely going through her hectic life. Only thing she looks forward to in her life is to get enough rest over weekend if there is any.
In the end of one of these typical days, she bumps into an American who guides her into a pop & exotic world of Tokyo she has never seen nor knew existed before.

The night of her life changing experience begins.

With the actual locations, strong characters, colors etc, the film will create a sense of dream like fantasy.

The title “Until Sun comes Up again” refers to the story of one night as well as the double meaning of Japan (our heroine) getting back on form.

Synopsis

Prologue
ARISA is a Japanese girl in mid twenties, working at TV commercial production company.
There is a shooting going on for TV ad in either studio or location - maybe they could be shooting a rip off of "Alice in wonderland" for some product…

Alisa is busy, being ordered around to do this and that.

She carries a bunch of colorful balloons for the set but she falls and let them go into the air, pissing off everyone on the set.

Director and or producer scold her - MAYBE right there on the spot as well as in office.

Later in the city, maybe in Shibuya
Alisa wonders the city, depressed - maybe talking to her mother on iPhone

Then Kyle comes from the opposite direction, also checking his iPhone.

They bump into each other and Alisa falls onto her butt.
Kyle helps her up, picks up her iPhone and hands it to her.
They part.

Then as Alisa checks her iPhone, she realizes its not hers.
(maybe we got Kyle dressed in rabbit suit or just a rabbit on screen?)
It was switched by mistake.

She turns around and starts to look for Kyle
Finds him going down into the subway entrance
She follows him.

Subway
She trots after Kyle who seems to disappear behind the corner every time she catches the sight on him in the distance

After going through underground here and there after Kyle, she finally comes up out into the streets.
And when she was going to call out to him, she is caught by a British tourist – that’s Paul #1
he is dressed as a mountaineer from 20s?
Maybe he pulls out a globe instead of map and asks her the place he wants to go in broken Japanese?

Then when she is freed by this tourist, she loses Kyle completely.

Cafe
Depressed, she spends time in cafe, not knowing what to do - realizing almost everyone in there is checking his/her smart phone and or mobile phone.
More depressed, she walks out.

Shibuya
Alisa wanders about - then finally spots the sight of Kyle in the distance
She follows him ho goes into the club - trump room?

Trump Room?
She walks in, stopped by a guy in the entrance - Paul#2?
A bouncer type in leather vest with nothing underneath?

Maybe she shows him the pic of Kyle on iPhone and tells him about the situation
but he is farm not to let her in unless she pays entrance fee

She does so reluctantly and is told where Kyle is

Upstairs
She goes upstairs to find Kyle in conversation with his pal - Paul #3
He is the crazy wild one. Name is Humphrey Dumphrey
He is affected, conceited etc etc but a good @ heart in a crazy way.

She joins them.
Humphrey falls in love with her right on the spot
He acts as best as he can as savvy guy and tries to kiss her on her hand
She refuses, screaming
His pride is broken so he tries to take her hand and kiss it forcefully
she resists
He gets serious and licks her hand
Panicked, maybe she kicks her or say or do something
And he gets hurt and walks away.

She explains Kyle about the phone and hands him his
Kyle searches his pockets for hers but its not there
and he remembers a bar he dropped by beforehand
and suggests they go there as it should be there

Shibuya
They go out, grab a taxi

Taxi
They head to a bar

Bar - maybe combine? M?
They walk in and explain the situation to the bartender
He shows things left there - weird stuff, there are phone too but no iPhone. only android

Alisa & Kyle are disappointed until the bartender suggests them why not call HER PHONE.

They lit up and does exactly that and is answered by…

Street
Alisa & Kyle walk over to the party
Conversation
Maybe she bitches about work, concerned of future etc
and he consults her?

Party
As soon as they arrive, they are offered shots of tequila
they drink, mingle with others

She is even asked by a good looking guy for a phone number in which she remembers about the reason why she's there

She looks for Humphrey who is talking to one of his girl friends on FACE TIME with iPhone.
They start to kiss through the phone.
Panicking, Alisa rushes over to him and takes the phone away from him.

Restroom
She washes her iPhone.
A blonde comes out of the stall, they meet at the washing basin and they talk

Party
Humphrey jumps into the pool, swims

Bar
Relieved but pissed, Alisa orders drink
Humphrey pops up, all wet, sits next to her and shakes himself to dry like dogs do which gives Alisa another scream in panic
And then he apologizes her about the phone and offers to pay for drinks.
Then they start to compete drinking.
They get wasted.

Cafe
She wakes to find herself sitting in the chair with the group of kyle and others.
They are scribbling things on the sleeping Humphrey's face with markers
Kyle realizes Alisa waking up and offers the maker to draw something on Humphrey's face…
She joins them on it

Later, she, Kyle and other friends leave the café, leaving the tabs at Humphrey who is still passed out.

Minutes later, Humphrey wakes, realizes he’s alone.
He walks over to the exit but he is called out by a waitress for payment.
He turns to her.
Seeing “graffiti” on his face, the waitress freaks out.
Without paying, he leaves the café, looking for his pals.

Streets
Humphrey looks for his friends with graffiti on his face.
He finds them and runs after them, calling out to them.
They turn to his voice and finds him with graffiti “scary”
So they run
Humphrey, not knowing why they are running, chases them.

Chase
This is, in a way, the climax of the movie, taking place in entire town.
Depicted as en epic chase that runs at least 10 minutes to 20 or so just like the chase sequence from“Romper Stomper”.

Shortly after, Humphrey is out of breath and gives up on catching his friends.
He leans on the wall
And sees… graffiti on his face on the reflection of the window
He freaks out and runs away, covering his face, gong “no… no…”

Park?
After running through the street, Kyle and Arisa are also out of breath but laughing hard.
They talk.
And then she starts to cry
Kyle comforts her.
She apologizes to ruin the happy moment – explains why
She hasn’t had so much fun in ages, she says.
Shes going through a lot lately and she just can’t see anything she could look forward to in her life.
Kyle cheers her up.

Sun starts to come up – its her time to go back to work
Shes sad that night has ended but is also energized for the day to come.

They walk down the CENTER GAI to the station.

At the intersection, they find the BALLON from the earlier scene, on the ground.

Kyle picks it up, says something and lets it fly again.

Epilogue
Humphrey gets on the train to go home, wearing the corn to hide the graffiti.
