Actors, Directors, Producers and Writers are cordially invited to attend the Play Reading of Darren Brealey’s full length psychological drama, Shattered Reflection at the Transmission Workshop on Monday 19 November 2012 at 6:00PM, The Rag Factory, 16 Heneage Street London, E1 5LJ
Come along and be involved in the play reading of my rewritten full length play, Shattered Reflection.
WORKSHOP /// SHATTERED REFLECTION In this workshop we will be exploring scenes from Darren Brealey's play Shattered Reflection. Christine celebrates her fortieth birthday with an outlook to falling in love with her Friday night male prostitute, Oscar. Unsatisfied in her career and in her life she is unsupported and alone exacerbating her mental illness and personality disorder. She suffers from an addiction to a cocktail of cocaine and alcohol. In Shattered Reflection, the birthday girl settles in by ordering a home delivered five-star meal and wine, but soon bored with this she unsuccessfully telephones her fair-weather friends. Amy her flatmate is dead in their home, her skeletal remains neatly tucked away in her bed; her bedroom a shrine to the memory of what Amy once meant. Oscar and his boyfriend, Benjamin end up in Christine’s apartment for their income and her entertainment. They have no idea of the night they are in for.

He wrote and self-produced his first full length stage play The Meeting Place in the 1996 Melbourne Fringe Festival, winning a Special Recommendation Award. Since then, he has written over thirty one-act and full length plays which have either been self-produced or produced by other companies. His works have reached as far as Singapore, Malaysia, and all around Australia. His works have won various awards in many festivals. He's had a one-act play banned from two festivals (the same play winning awards at other festivals) and has had two books of one-act plays self-published. He has taught Character Development and Creative Writing run by Writers’ Workshops for beginners. He's studied the art of writing at the Australian Film, Television, Radio School (AFTRS), attended the Robert McKee weekend seminar and most recently attended five of the seven William C. Martell workshops during the London Raindance Film Festival and the MET Film School’s Introduction to Screen Writing weekend at Earling Studios. His next reinvention is to branch out into Film and is currently setting up to write his first feature film, based on the medical experiments undertaken by the Nazis in WWII at the Buchenwald concentration camp in Warszaw. Film or stage, he looks forward to having his first London premier.
