Kevin Manthei is a Los Angeles based composer who has worked extensively in film, television, animation and video games for over 20 years. Referred to as a “pop-culture game changer,” he’s received two Annie Awards nominations to his scores for Invader Zim and Batman Gotham Knight – the later against Hans Zimmer and John Powell - and a Golden Reel Award nomination for Justice League: The New Frontier. Kevin’s multi-platform experience in film scoring gives him an upper hand in understanding the integral placement of music in story-telling, whether its through a traditional narrative like the indie feature The 24th Day, or the non-linear storytelling needed in video games like TRON: Evolution or Star Trek Online.

Being a multi-instrumentalist (piano, trumpet, guitar and bass), Kevin is passionate about adding live musicians to his score to bring everything to life. He wrote and composed 10 albums of music during his teen years through college. This experimentation helped him find his philosophy as a composer – striving to create a unique musical voice for every project he scores to augment the creator’s vision.

Kevin’s career started in composing video games. Known for his cinematic scoring for games to sound like movie scores, he’s composed over 60 game titles including, Champions Online, Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda, Shark Tale, Ultimate Spider-Man, and classic games including Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption, Wizardry 8, and Sacrifice.
A graduate of USC’s Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program, Kevin was fortunate enough to study under the legendary Jerry Goldsmith. That was the only year he taught at USC. Kevin’s fellow classmates and friends were Christophe Beck, Jon Ehrlich and Marco Beltrami – all who he has worked alongside scoring additional music for the likes of Scream 2, Scream 3, Resident Evil, and Scary Movie 2.

Kevin is currently scoring the Disney animated series Ultimate Spider-Man and the Massive Multiplayer Online game, Neverwinter, by Dungeons and Dragons.
