moreMy full-length play Once Upon A Time In Harlem won the Jaz Dorsey Fusion Award from the African American Playwrights Exchange which is pretty cool considering this brother is white. Petronia Paley directed a NYC "radio" reading of the play at the National Black Theatre in Harlem on March 30th (http://bit.ly/KRZWOx). It was a resounding success thanks to powerful performances by some of NYC's best actors. The annotated edition of the "radio"/reading version of my play "Once Upon A Time In Harlem: A Jitterbug Romance" is now available on Amazon.com (http://amzn.to/MkQ35X). I made a cued special effects mp3 soundtrack available as a free download with each purchase from the play's website (http://bit.ly/LH5Mxg). The book will make a great edition to any college Black Studies program but it will also afford high school teachers an interactive and fun experience for their students by assigning parts and reading the play aloud in the classroom. The book is also available on Kindle, Kobo eBooks, and other digital formats which offer a unique use of technology: when tapped, the annotations in the play take you to definition or historical fact with a one click back to the page you were on in the play.
On July 22, 2012, my play made the cut for Theater Resources Unlimited's (TRU) pitch fest to Broadway producers. Director Petronia Paley represented me and the play to a dozen producers, some of whom have actually won Tonys and many more who have been associated with Tony nominated productions. Out of that, I got requests from two. Keeping fingers crossed.
I have written and seen produced a documentary on Florida’s biggest Civil War battle called "On the Road to Olustee" plus numerous commercials and an infomercial. I recently placed in the MultiStages finals for new plays and took second place in Larry Brody's “People’s Pilot” TV script writing contest.
