I am a 4 year transplant from Michigan to Florida. This was a very huge jump for me, as I had never done anything like that before. Sure, I had gone to California in 1980's and to Indiana for a few visits with my son between 2001 and 2005, but nothing as huge as MOVING from one state to another.
My first trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan came when I was 42. Though I had lived in Michigan all my life, I had never ventured far from where I lived at any time. This too was a new adventure for me. The headshot you see of me here on my profile was taken near the Mackinaw Bridge. What I am standing under is the sign that reads "Colonial Michilimackinac, Founded 1715". Michilimackinac was later shortened to Mackinaw, though the signs around town still say Michilimackinac. To the left of where I am standing in this picture, is the Mackinaw Bridge and Fort Mackinaw.
