I began my career in the media in 2006 when I was offered a position at a newly opened studio in Romania where I helped to produce two TV shows commissioned by Romanian National Television.
I’ve worked on film sets, live TV sets, in production offices, recording studios and so on, and had various exciting roles such as producer’s assistant at 42 Km Film, the company belonging to the Camera d’Or award-winning director Corneliu Porumboiu, or PA to Stefan Banica Jr., one of the most renowned celebrities in Romania.
Since moving to the UK I’ve been involved in a number of projects, and took particular pride in my role as an associate producer on two documentary films on different aspects of Romanian society, both of them broadcast by Romanian National Television.
During the years of production and office-based jobs, I gradually discovered that writing is a great part of who I am, and thus my professional life has taken a new and challenging direction.
I wrote my first feature script, ‘Landscape with Camel and Bear’ in 2012 and the first draft was selected to participate in ‘Manaki Brothers Script Corner’, a development workshop in Macedonia, where it received the runner-up award for Best Script.
My second screenplay ‘The Seventy Men in My Life’ was selected to take part in Artviva Co-production Training Ground in Bucharest in 2016 and is currently under development.
Growing up in communist Romania and becoming an adult during the enthusiastic, confusing and often violent years after the Revolution, has given me a complex perspective on how historical, political and social circumstances shape one’s individuality; it has thus become my professional goal to convey this experience through writing and film.
