About Jim

Seeing Marcel Camus' "Black Orpheus" as an adolescent gave me my first inklings that I might actually want to participate in the process; to create the flow of motion, color and sound for others to connect with. My other influences are the usual suspects: Jean-Luc Godard, Spike Lee, Bernardo Bertolucci, Ridley Scott, etc.

I completed my first screenplay in 1990. Since then, there have been 4 more and two stage plays.

I like working with natural light as much as possible. And when directing I like to leave room for the actors to inhabit the characters and express from that perspective.

I'm a graduate of the University Of Maryland and Boston University's Center For Digital Imaging Arts. My skills as a visual artist increased significantly as a result of completing the program at CDIABU but I recognize it was just a beginning.
