Actor, Director, Educator, Fight Choreographer (for 18 years). Durand choreographed over three hundred and fifty acts of violence or comedic mayhem, designed and built combat and related stunts for theatre and/or film. Durand earned a Master of Arts in Drama from San Francisco State University and is a member of SAG-AFTRA. He is an Unarmed and Edged Weapons specialist with certifications from SAFD and DAI. As an actor he has appeared in over 50 productions (stage) and has performed in over a dozen indie films. He has 9 directorial credits for stage and has coordinated violence etc. on over 35 films. Since 1998 he has served as the resident Fight Choreographer for African-American Shakespeare Co. and was the resident Fight Choreographer for Hillbarn Theatre Company for seven years. As an actor, he was a founding member of New City Theatre of Berkeley (in the '70s), an associate artist with Zona de Teatro in Santa Fe ('80s), and co-founder and Producing Artistic Director of Luminarias Theatre Co. in the '90s. As an educator, Mr. Garcia has taught acting and directed at St. John's College, the Mission Cultural Center, and New College of California. Currently he teaches Stage Combat courses at the Academy of Art University.
