British comedian and actor, Jason Canning, made his television debut when he was handpicked to play Mr Paramount, the face and character of the Paramount Comedy channel. Jason was chosen not only for his remarkable resemblance to Jim Carrey, but also for his uncanny ability to reproduce Carrey’s physical antics.
His warm, charming demeanor combined with his broad age appeal led to a string of hosting engagements on family networks like the BBC and Disney Channel and even at the UK’s legendary Royal Albert Hall.
A move to L.A. took Jason further into comedy as well as an extensive hosting stint on E! Entertainment where he injected his unique humor into their movie review show “Extreme Close-Up” and E!’s celebrity gossip driven “Gone Bad”. A tour of duty as the voice of BBC America also followed which even earned him a Telly Award.
First in line was HBO who cast him in their critically acclaimed animated comedy series, “The Life & Times of Tim” playing opposite an enviable roster of A-list talent including fellow Brit actor Alfred Molina. Nickelodeon also recognized Jason’s talents when they cast him as a series regular alongside Mark Hamill and Henry Winkler in their hit series “Hero Factory”. A huge life long Star Wars fan Jason was thrilled to be invited to play Admiral Ozzel in Lucasfilm’s Lego animated feature "The Empire strikes Out". Look out for Jason in the new season of TMNT on Nick playing the Kraang and also in his own animated series "Small Talk".
Jason continues to follow his passion for comedy headlining shows across North America with his impressive array of characters and celebrity impressions earning him an avid following on and off the screen.
