(

Then we do some much-needed fact checking.
The Queens
(
Documentary
by The Reporters Inc.
Executive Producer Part Paris is Burning, part RuPaul’s Drag Race and part Miss America, The Queens explores the transgender subculture of competitive female impersonation. Along the way, this feature-length documentary delves into the fascinating history of Chicago’s iconic female illusion show lounge, The Baton, and the club’s legendary offspring, the Miss Continental beauty pageant (an annual competition that has drawn transgender contestants from around the globe since 1980). The entertainers immersed in this glamorous, close-knit community share the highs and lows of their lives as they compete for the coveted crown.
Experiment: Gay & Straight
(
Documentary
by The Reporters Inc.
Executive Producer "Experiment: Gay and Straight" (originally produced in 2002) aimed to help a majority group (heterosexuals) and a minority group (homosexuals) reach a better understanding of one another by discussing, debating and, in some cases, even resolving their differences in an environment where “political correctness” was nowhere to be found–by design.
In essence, "Experiment: Gay and Straight" combined hard-edged news reporting with the increasingly popular concept of “reality television.” We presented the subject in an accessible format for viewers who might otherwise tune it out, all the while mindful of our journalistic integrity and resolve to dig deeper for insight and enlightenment. In short, we called it “reality television with a purpose.”
The Experiment in Black and White
(
Documentary
by The Reporters Inc.
Executive Producer When the subject is race, people shut up. They don’t want to talk about it, especially in mixed company. Few seem willing to speak openly or candidly, for fear of being called a racist. And as a result, questions and answers, issues and problems, simply don’t get discussed thoroughly and honestly in America today.
Instead, ignorance festers, fear grows, stereotypes persist, segregation increases.
"The Experiment in Black and White" is a concept designed to help change all that. Ten Chicago-area residents are sequestered inside a home for one week, in an attempt to deal head-on with the always-controversial issues of race relations in one of the country’s most segregated cities. The results are provocative, explosive, and ultimately enlightening as the participants throw out all notions of being politically correct in order to come to a true understanding of one another.
