About JD

Originally from Black Mud, Louisville, KY, JD served 14 years in the USAF, four working on H-Model (Spectre) Gunships, five as an Integrated Avionics Instructor, and four with an elite rescue unit. He is currently an Optical Fiber Splicer technician, Middle School baseball coach, Royal Rangers commander, husband and father of two. He has worked on the screenwriting craft since his days as an extra on Dawson's Creek and Assistant Stage Manager of The Crook & Chase Television Show. In 2008 he optioned the spec script, A Point In Time. Since then he has provided coverage, ghosted, contracted, polished and worked hard to develop his skills, create compelling stories and find his place in the film world.

Unique traits: Growing up as a "bastard" and , at the time, one of the rare "white kids" in the middle of the "projects", I was beat and locked in a closet until a family member took me from my Dad at gunpoint when I was 2. When I was 18, my 15 year old brother hanged himself in a barn. It challenged me to really look at what makes me, me, us, us and why we do what we do. I have always been drawn to stories that really speak to the heart no matter the genre. These experiences have given me a unique writing voice and afforded me the ability to connect with others.

This is particularly true for 15-year-olds Dawson Leery, an introspective dreamer and Joey Potter, a precocious tomboy unaware of her beauty. Best friends since childhood, they are about to enter that confusing time in life where nothing is the way it was and nothing is as it seems. Written by John <littlejohnboy@hotmail.com>
