About Alexis

Alexis Adkins is originally from Decatur, GA. A rather precocious and gifted child, her parents started to teach her to read and write at age 3. Because of this, they discovered it is very challenging to paint over a toddler’s heavy handed use of black crayon (capital A’s as high as she could reach around the room). Luckily, she was rather easily persuaded to transfer to paper. This early bit of art was, well, the writing on the wall. Coming from a line of musicians, her creativity was stoked. Initially it was to quell childhood fears of thunderstorms (squirrels wearing boots, throwing lavish parties), snakes, and such. Mix that with a healthy dose of being an ad hoc roadie for her father’s gigs, and there would be no inoculation that would suffice, she was hooked into the industry.

Like most entertainers, her father had a “day job”, which took her through most of the Southern states. From this, she learned to make people laugh, to distract them or put them at ease, as well as a rare perspective into human interactions and perceptions.

In her teenage years, she tried her hand in the music scene, fronting bands, writing lyrics, working in a recording studio in Houston. Over time, her lyrics took and even more poetic bend, then short stories. From this, she learned how her words have the ability to make people laugh, distract them from their daily lives, and put them at ease; giving her an outlet to share her unique perspective.

Alexis moved of her own accord to Dallas, and that was where she really took off. She started training with local coaches, who then introduced her to a LA coach, who convinced her to make “the move”. She baby-stepped along; learning, watching, absorbing. Between this and all the aspects of running a business she learned at her own day jobs, she felt the only way to promote herself effectively, as well as get a different type of project made, was to just do it herself. Thus, DixieMouse Productions was born.

Meticulous and methodical as she is passionate and dedicated, Alexis is certainly one to watch.
