Over twenty years experience as a producer/director, shooter and editor, for broadcast television, corporate productions and web videos, along with college teaching experience, to show young people how to do what I do.
I began my career in radio, working at AM/FM commercial and public stations, then after college, I got into TV when the cable "wave" was building. As the wave crested, I moved into the freelance world, mainly as a camera operator for live-sports coverage, of the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, Blackhawks and Fire, along with shooting news and features for local stations such as WGN, Ch. 9, Chicago. Not long after, I began teaching in the Television Department of Columbia College, where I stayed on full-time for over twenty years.
Since then, I've been Director Of Broadcast for a California University, a Production Manager for a public TV station, taught at a new 2-year Digital Media & Arts Academy, and have also continued to freelance, most recently for the Chicago Cubs' new video scoreboard, in Wrigley Field. I enjoy the challenges of maintaining a diverse client base.
I also play guitar and sing for several Chicago blues and jazz bands, like Smilin' Bobby & The Hidden Charms, for whom I produced a CD, out on the Wolf Records label. One other career highlight: I was Director Of Photography for The Crown Fountain, in Chicago's Millennium Park. Working with artist Jaume Plensa, at The School Of The Chicago Art Institute, I shot over 700 of the faces that now appear on the fountain's two 50-foot towers, with 30-foot video screens.
Unique traits: Voice-overs, song writing, guitar playing, blues singing, good karma!
