Nothing beats the art of brilliant filmmaking. Fortunately over the last couple of weeks we at Stage 32 had the opportunity to view remarkable filmmaking at the 68th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Our good friends over at Film4 had four films in Competition this year including Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth and Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth, Yorgos Lanthimos's The Lobster (which was awarded the Jury Prize), and Todd Haynes' Carol (which Rooney Mara won Best Actress). They have a remarkable talent for working with great filmmakers.
Film4 sat down with 17 of the industry's master filmmakers to chat about the art of directing. We encourage you to watch the video below with directors such as Quentin Tarantino, David Fincher, Steve McQueen, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, David Cronenberg (and more!) as they share their advice on the craft.
We're all about education here at Stage 32. We believe some of the best education comes from the advice and lessons from others who are successful in your field. Stay inspired and keep reaching for your goals. If your goal is to screen at the Cannes Film Festival or if it's to get your first short off the ground, always keep learning. We hope you enjoy the advice from these master filmmakers!
