RB's Stage 32 News, Notes, Discussions and Other Fun Stuff (October 10th, 2014)

Posted by Richard "RB" Botto
Welcome to the weekend, everyone.

Within the last year, there have been a few discussions in the Stage 32 Lounge regarding the filming of sex scenes.  It’s been interesting to read the passionate and the (sometimes wildly) different perspectives on the subject from those working in front of and behind the camera.
Right now on the Weekend Blog under ENTERTAINMENT NEWS, I have an article and a video from Vulture (but seemingly featured all over the web this week): Three Actors Reveal the Awkward Truth of Shooting Sex Scenes and Filming a Movie Sex Scene is Unsurprisingly Super-Awkward.  I welcome your remarks in the Comments section of the blog.
Other stories I have for you this week include the surprising closing of the Resolution Talent Agency a mere two plus years after launch, Ron Meyer speaks of Hollywood assholes and CAA monsters, the distribution of video content in the Digital Age remains in flux, more and more networks are embracing anthology series, Nextflix’s CEO explains his recent direct to streaming movie deals, all sorts of Gone Girl news and opinion, a look back at how Variety and others originally reviewed Vertigo, Norman Lear reflects on his decades in the biz, the Farrelly Brothers join Project Greenlight and much, much more.
Under TIPS, I’ve taken things from a slightly different perspective by looking at common mistakes documentary filmmakers, film composers, actors and screenwriters make and how to avoid them.
Also, under VIDEOS, Paul Thomas Anderson on why 35MM should stay alive, the trailer for Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper and the trailer for the 3rd and final season of The Newsroom.
Finally, I have dozens of the most popular and interesting Lounge discussions, fantastic and inspiring Stage 32 Success Stories and all the Stage 32 Meetups happening around the globe.
Enjoy, and have an awesome and creative weekend!
Fun week around the neighborhood.
