RB's Stage 32 News, Notes, Discussions and Other Fun Stuff (October 3rd, 2014)

Posted by Richard "RB" Botto
Welcome to the weekend, everyone.

I have a jammed pack edition of the Weekend Blog this time around.  Some really interesting articles under ENTERTAINMENT NEWS, particularly on the distribution front where Netflix made two big announcements this week.  First, Netflix announced a joint venture with The Weinstein Company to bring the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon directly to the streaming network bypassing all theatrical (with the exception of some IMAX theaters).  They then announced a 4 picture deal for films produced by and starring Adam Sandler.  The distribution revolution continues.

Also under ENTERTAINMENT NEWS, John Cusack takes some shots at the Hollywood studio system, the Midnight Rider filmmakers indicted in the death of Sarah Jones have a trial date, a Star Wars producer blasts some prevalent myths, Exodus: Gods & Kings promises old school epic movie-making (or at least the head of Fox says so), a look at the filming of Paul Thomas Anderson's new one, Inherent Vice (can't wait), Terence Winter reflects on the end of Boardwalk Empire (can wait...don't want it to end), David Fincher talks about the Star Wars movie he didn't make and much, much more.

How's that to get things started?  But wait, there's more!

I also have the trailer for the aforementioned Inherent Vice along with the trailers for Big Hero 6, Interstellar and Jupiter Ascending.  Plus, under TIPS, I have 4 key concepts you need to sell your film, 8 screenwriting tips for the emerging writer and 12 invaluable tips for the first time filmmaker.

Need more?  Sure.

How about over 6 dozen Stage 32 success stories, popular and interesting Lounge discussions and all the Stage 32 Meetups happening around the globe.

I've thrown in a few more goodies as well.

Enjoy, and have a happy and creative weekend!
