Search For New Blood Screenwriting Contest – DEADLINE EXTENDED through 9/2 at Midnight

Posted by Stage 32 Staff - Julie

We have been receiving an overwhelming amount of messages from our writers asking for an extension to the Stage 32 | The Blood List New Blood Screenwriting Contest due to the holiday weekend here in the US. We are pleased to announce that we will extend the deadline to Tuesday, September 2 at midnight PDT.

Please take the extra time to spend quality time with your families and friends and get back to typing feverishly on Final Draft on Tuesday.

Just a reminder, that the top finalists will be listed in a special "New Blood" section of one of Hollywood's most respected lists, The Blood List, and will be exposed to top industry execs. The Blood List is a prestigious round up of the top 13 unproduced genre screenplays that is circulated around Hollywood. The winner of our contest will be flown to LA to have a meeting with Richard Potter, the EVP at Relativity.  Our 1st and 2nd runners up will also have one-on-one meetings with executives.

Here are just a few success stories that came from being on the The Blood List:

  • THE VOICES by Michael R. Perry, which was #1 the first year the list was made, is being released by Lionsgate and stars Anna Kendrick.
  • MAGGIE by John Scott III, which was #1 on 2011's list, is premiering at TIFF this year and stars Abigail Breslin.
  • VIRAL FKA PESTE from the 2011 List is casting and being made by Blumhouse.
  • VIRAL by Dustin T. Benson is being made by NAA films.
  • THE BOY NEXT STORE by Barbara Curry from 2011 was made last fall by Blumhouse starring Jennifer Lopez.

Our high profile judges have been involved in some of the most critically acclaimed genre films including SCREAM, THE CONJURING, THE STRANGERS, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, HALLOWEEN, THE EXPENDABLES and THE WOMAN IN BLACK. ALL scripts in all areas of horror, thriller, and suspense are welcome!
