Hey guys. Just wanted to take a few moments to discuss the recent spam activity on the site. As you may be aware, we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to spamming. While we fully understand that many of our members own or are representing businesses, a crowdfunding campaign, or even just a reel they'd like to promote, they're expected to do it organically and within the spam guidelines listed in the FAQ.
Over the past few days, we've unfortunately seen a few instances of illegitimate user accounts sending large amounts of spam private messages and wall posts. In each of these instances, the posts had nothing to do with anything involving the film, television, or theater industries. We dealt with each of these situations by immediately deleting the account and banning the IP addresses associated with that account.
Additionally, Derrick and I worked through the weekend to put new safeguards in place which will significantly cut down on this behavior, nipping it in the bud early. We've also added a "Report Spam" link to private message, wall post, Lounge discussion, and comment notification emails that any member can use to report this type of behavior.
I appreciate all of you who took the time to give us a heads up to the suspicious activity. We're a very small crew. In fact, Derrick and I are the only full timers here at 32. While we try to have our eyes and ears open at all times, we do depend on the community to lend a helping hand. We thank you for rising to the occasion and we most definitely appreciate your patience as we weed out those who don't have the best interest of the community in mind.
Nothing matters more to us than the integrity of the site and there is absolutely no way we'll allow it to devolve into a sea of useless white noise and self promotion. The community is more powerful than any individual. And that, we promise you, will never change.
