As you probably have seen, my name is Carissa. I am a recent graduate of Northern Kentucky University. At NKU, I earned a Bachelor's degree of Theatre Arts with a focus in stage management and a minor in Cinema Studies. During my time at school I worked at a local theatre company for three years, had five internships, and stage managed for four different theatre companies.
While the past four years have been heavily focused on theatre, it became increasingly clear to me in the last year or two that cinema is my deepest passion. While I love and appreciate both art forms, I believe it's time for me to give the world of cinema as much attention and effort as I have theatre.
I would love to use the skills, tools, and experience I have of stage management and apply it to a film environment as a production assistant, crew member (any field), and eventually unit assistant directing. The more artistic side of me, however, is deeply driven to be a film editor. The way I view, enjoy, and understand film, stories, and characters is most attuned to the perspective and duties of editor. So if I had a dream, it would definitely be to an editor for film (or even music videos and visual art).
Currently, I do not have any experience on a film set, but am looking for any and every opportunity to do so. I know I have to get my feet wet, before I can swim and that is what I plan on doing.
I am passionate, driven, focused, a fast learner, and a team player in all that I do.
