When she’s not writing or directing or producing shorts and music videos, Carmella is growing six foot tall okra plants. Really. Carmella won the reelshort.com online film competition for her first short film, ...the fan! and was honored during the New Directors Short Film Showcase presented by reelshort.com, the American Cinematheque and Universal Pictures. Her debut indie feature Shakespeare’s The Tempest, artfully utilized race and gender to tell the story of a man who learns to quell the tempest inside. Heady stuff.
Carmella jumped head first into television as a producer with partner Deb Spidell on the wildly successful Showtime series, The Green Room with Paul Provenza. She directed two episodes of the show that featured comedians Eddie Izzard and Jimmy Carr and other name talent. She also directed House of Lies-LIVE with the cast of HOL for Showtime. An armchair political pundit, Carmella wrote and directed the spot-on political dramedy pilot, The Accidental Candidate. She is shopping an action-thriller, SMOKE ON!
