Tips on pitching to UTA:

  • Focus on one project. Come in passionately with one project.
  • Streamline it. Keep it concise. The pitch should be no longer than 6 minutes and no longer than 2 pages.
  • Make sure the set pieces in your pitch complement the tone. For example, if you are pitching a comedy make sure there are comedic set pieces in your pitch.
  • Make sure your characters (or at least the protagonist) has redeemable qualities.

Sam Schulte is the Director of Production & Distribution at Millennium Films and works directly with Co-Presidents Jeffrey Greenstein and Jonathan Yunger. Millennium released ANGEL HAS FALLEN, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD, and THE HITMAN'S WIFE'S BODYGUARD! Their film BLACKBIRD with Kate Winslet and Sam Neil which premiered at TIFF. 

Millennium Films is one of the longest-running independent film companies in the history of Hollywood, with over 20 years behind it and more than 300 movies to its credit. The company now produces, finances and handles international sales for 8-10 star-driven movies per year, generally with budgets between $20 million and $80 million.

Quinn has been at The Gotham Group for a little under two years. Quinn works with Lindsay Williams, partner and head of our Literary/Feature department. In both capacities, Quinn has actively identified and pursued potential clients and projects in addition to cultivating existing talent. He loves finding new and exciting voices in film and television and communicating his passion for them and their work to the world. Creative and commercial success is always his goal when working with new writers and directors.

Tips on pitching to Quinn:

  • Make sure verbal pitches do not exceed 6 minutes. Allow some room for questions.
  • Present a prepared pitch. Include all major plot points, start with title, logline and genre. Verbal pitches should feel streamlined and conversational and written pitches should be clean and typo-free. 
  • Keep on the throughline. Don't include too many details and go off on tangents. Focus on the main story line. 

 

Christina Liu

Christina Liu - Assistant to Two TV Agents, Rothman Brecher Agency

Christina began her professional job in journalism as a writer/producer for a political talk show. Next, Christina moved onto documentary and commercial work, co-writing a program following Western artists working in Asia. As assistant to Michael Mann, Christina provided development coverage, and Mandarin dialogue editing for his latest film. Now at Rothman Brecher Agency, Christina is an assistant to two TV agents. Company client credits include The Muppets, The Big Bang Theory, Monk, Greek, Haven, The Simpsons, Man Up, Stargate: Atlantis, Pretty Little Liars, The Walking Dead and The Leftovers. 
 
Tips on pitching to Christina:
  • Limit your usage of sweeping thematic statements or use of pre-existing material as a crutch. 
  • You can use TV comps to set up the tone but avoid saying things like "this other show was a success so mine will be too"
  • For verbal sessions, don't be argumentarive if receiving feedback during the session. Be open to suggestions as that's one of the reasons why you will want a manager.

Daniel Kendrick

Daniel Kendrick - Director of Animation, IDW Entertainment

Daniel Kendrick is the Director of Animation at the Comic company  IDW Entertainment. Daniel oversees the entire development slate for animated film and television. 

Previously, Daniel was a manager at Chatrone, one of the preeminent Animation production and management companies in the industry! Their animated feature, The Book of Life was released by Fox starring Channing Tatum and Zoe Saldana. They represent writers across the industry, as well as produce multiple TV shows in Latin America.

Daniel previously worked at ICM before joining Chatrone in 2012. Daniel's clients include writers, artists, and creators that have worked on projects including THE BOOK OF LIFE, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, "Teen Titans", "Robot Chicken", "Spongebob Squarepants", and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

Warner Bros. recently tapped Chatrone client Jorge Gutierrez to develop the BILLION BRICK RACE project in a studio off-shoot from its Lego franchise. BILLION BRICK RACE, was previously in development with Jason Segel and Drew Pearce. Producers are Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Roy Lee. Chris McKay and Jill Wilfert of Lego are executive producing.
