Company Executives

Kelsey Hansen

Kelsey Hansen - Assistant to Manager and Producer, Principato Young Entertainment

While attending school at Michigan State University, Kelsey interned at The Gotham Group for three months. Working closely alongside managers on their projects, she quickly learned development was what she wanted to explore. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Media Arts and Technology in 2012, she moved to Los Angeles and did multiple internships at different companies including Hollywood Gang Productions on Warner and Hri Talent on Universal. Kelsey then landed a job at Scott Sanders Productions (The Odd Life of Timothy Green) as assistant to the VP of Production, Mara Jacobs. After about six months there, she then applied to another position at Radical Studios (Oblivion, Hercules: The Thracian Wars) and began work soon thereafter as assistant to the President, Barry Levine. After almost two years of working his desk, she began the transition into development at the company when things took a different turn and was offered a position as Head of Development at his new company. Kelsey decided to go in a different direction, however, and combine her love of film and television with her passion for gaming to work at a brand new company called Samsson Media developing experiences for VR (virtual reality) and Television/Film. After working there for several months, Kelsey moved on to work as an assistant at a management and production company in Beverly Hills called Principato-Young Entertainment, delving back into film and television.

Principato Young Entertainment currently produces:

  • Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer
  • Netflix's Flaked
  • Comedy Central’s Key & Peele
  • FX's Married
  • ABC's Black-ish

Company client credits include:

  • The Descendents
  • The Way Way Back
  • Wrath of the Titans
  • GI Joe 2
  • The Night at the Museum franchise
  • X-Men: First Class
  • Thor
  • Role Models
  • The Break Up

How does Kelsey like to be pitched?

I enjoy clear precise synopses when it comes to pitches. Don't linger too much on dialogue, or things that don't make an impact to the story in general. Feel free to dive into the plot twists and characters, because most of the time, that's what grabs my attention: the characters have to be captivating.

Tips on pitching to Zoe:

  • Make sure the tonal comps make sense to your film. They should help the executive figure out the tone before going into the plot.
  • Highlight the major plot points.
  • Touch upon why your protagonist is engaging enough to be the focus of a movie.
  • For written pitches, try to break up larger chunks of paragraphs to smaller ones so the written pitch is easier to digest.
  • If you are going to include an "About Me" section, put it at the end of your pitch.
