Imaginary Love, a film written and directed by Shane Taylor tells the story of a man and how far he will go to keep his love alive. Haley and Henry Grace, a newlywed couple, could not be happier. They are deeply in love and are about to celebrate their first Christmas together when tragedy strikes. Haley is killed in an automobile accident with an 18-wheeler, leaving Henry to pick up the pieces of their life. As soon as her funeral is over, his mind begins to play tricks on him; Haley is suddenly back in their house as if she never died. The viewer is left to discern between Henry’s vivid imagination and desperate reality. Henry’s mother, father, and sister attempt to support him as he navigates the loss of his wife, but discover that they are up against something more complicated than they can deal with. Henry’s family seeks professional help for him in an attempt to help him heal. Ultimately Henry will have to decide if he would rather keep his sanity or his wife. Would he trade reality for a fantasy in which Haley is still with him? Is life worth living without her? Is love still real if it’s only in your imagination? In this beautifully spun tale of love, loss, memory, coping, friendship, and moving-on, the viewer will follow Henry through the psychology of loss and the journey of healing.
