About the job

Public Relations Coordinator for Denouement Literary Agency, LLC

Denouement Lit has two publishing houses: BLISS Books and Portals Publishing. BLISS is spiritual in nature, Portals is not. I have about 100 authors spread across the United States and several in England and Canada (but one of them spends 4 months a year in Sebring, FL). I need someone to set up book signing events for them (see expectations below). You would work freelance, charging the authors for your services. You would not have to be present at the event – most communication will be through email and phone. (I had to put a location on this posting, but you can work from anywhere - phone and email will be your offices.)

About your fee – an author sells approximately 10 books at an event. They buy the books directly from me at 40% off the retail value (50% off 50 books or more). So they make about $4 per book. But the point of a book signing isn’t necessarily to sell books; it is to build a fan-base. So free-bees (book marks, pens, etc.) and other marketing items (t-shirts, posters, action-figure dolls, board games, etc.) are important. Business cards and websites need to be available, and gathering customer emails is vital. Authors need to present themselves in such a way (dress, grooming, personality, punctuality) that the host business and the potential buyers are impressed and honored to have the author as their guest. Also, book events can include seminars and/or speeches, and you could broker the honorarium and take a percentage of it as part of your fee.

I will be adding new authors as I grow. And once you build a reputation with the host businesses or groups, you will find it easier to set up the new authors or repeat visits of the old ones.

Expectations:

1.      to set up minimum of six book signing events for each author over six  months (averages out to one a month), in 6 month increments (authors can be paired or grouped at the same event)

2.      coordinate publicity for these events through social media and real media

3.      assist the author in arranging transportation and accommodations if necessary

4.      act as go-between for authors paying any booth fees

5.      assist in ideas to set up and work a book signing event

6.      ensure the proper number of books have been ordered and delivered through the publisher (me) in ample time for the event
