About the job

More than a dozen copyrighted projects, each requiring a specific musical interpretation appropriate to locale & historical era (Ancient Greece to contemporary American urban) while appealing to a 21st century audience and showcasing the composer's distinctive individual style. Much as I admire Sondheim, he is sui generis (one of a kind) and there are too many third- and fourth-rate imitators out there.

All these projects are ON SPEC. I have a limited income and cannot afford to pay a collaborator for his services. If I could, then like Disney--I would own ALL RIGHTS in the project, including the music. The best deal I can offer is, if and when a project is optioned for commercial production, then the composer and I would split the Author's Advance and ALL ROYALTIES equally instead of the Dramatists' Guild standard of two-thirds to me for book and lyrics and only one-third to the composer.

Where my libretto is based on/adapted from material copyrighted by a third party, then the split would be one-third to each of us. If we dissolve the collaboration, then each of us would own all rights in the material we individually contributed. If we proceed, we will re-copyright the entire project in both our names.

For a list of copyrighted projects with capsule descriptions, please send your resume'/c.v., letters of recommendation and/or media reviews of your original compositions (NOT your reinterpretations of another composer's work) and mp3s of your original compositions recorded with REAL, LIVE human voices, not MIDI to: carver.robertd@gmail.com

I'll send my support material by return email. Samples of my work as a lyricist can be heard on NumberOneMusic ("Zarzuela de Ovejunador/The Sheepherder's Opera") and YouTube ("The Long, Hot Summer Musical Project") based on the 1958 film of the same name, for which I obtained conditional stage adaptation rights from the estate of William Faulkner, pending a big screen remake.

My writing style has been described as quasi-operatic, almost inextricably interweaving dialogue and dance with conventional Broadway-style songs, recitative, aria and extended musical scenes, some of which are actually mini-musicals within themselves. Writing samples are available on request.

Okay....had a fun day moving furniture into my new rental house yesterday....so understand if I am sounding brutish for the moment. Please...I think I am pretty good, probably able to reach the stars....no, definitely able to reach the stars. Would you send me three tunes from your book,.... with your music direction as to tone, feel, ideals, etc....and let me just get to it and score them, send them back to you, and then make a decision whether I am the perfect fit or not. I will sign any contracts providing you with security and secrecy etc. I have scored several feature films, written....or at least wrote enough music for 5 musical....frankly and pleasantly...I compose music everyday, day in day out, and have been doing so for years. Give it a go...send me your words....let me fly or flop...we both save time and anxiety, And perhaps....you find the new gemstone in the night sky before it decends to the earth in a stream of bright and new colors for all the world to gaze upon in awe....at least for a season. Wesley L. Curry II OFFOFFINDIE@Gmail.com. All the best to you, And as for me...how the FUCK am I going to get this couch through the front door....its just too big! Aaaaargh! I promise I will try to make something beautiful....and never even musically considered possible...before.
