A shady character who presents herself as the daughter of Nicholas II, but is not. Anna – A geneticist who fled the USSR and is Bernard's lover. PLOT:The events begin around 1953–1954. Bernard is living peacefully in Amsterdam when he receives a letter from an old acquaintance with whom he had an affair. Bernard decides to go to Stacy because she claims she's dying and urges him to fulfill an old vow he made to Lord Alexander. In America, Bernard tries to dissuade Stacy, declaring that she needs treatment, but she persuades him. After some time, Bernard learns that Stacy has died and goes to her grave. At the cemetery, he runs into Victor Ritekoff. They clash, and Victor declares he will take Stacy's firm under his wing. Bernard decides to fulfill his vow to Stacy and arrives in Mount Weather, where he meets old friends David and Nathaniel, with whom he has already made arrangements. The Mount Weather scientists don't impress the men, but they decide to profit from the drugs they produce there.Bernard begins to use his connections to advance the idea, but he doesn't tell Hedwig about it. Ritenkoff leaves for the USSR with some of Mount Weather's papers. He works at a secret institute and realizes he's being deceived. Stacy calls him and invites him to West Berlin. However, documents from an Austrian archive, showing Bernard in a Nazi uniform, are stolen. Stacy receives death threats, and Ritenkoff suggests she go to Argentina.Stein comes to Europe to study, but quickly cools off because he's not particularly interested in working. They set up a lab for him because they consider him a genius. Ritenkoff gathers several talented young people around him, and with some of them he leaves for London. He leaves Anna there.Iman, a girl of Middle Eastern descent, is studying at the University of London. She's a genius in genetics. And her friend Sam.
