Tips on pitching to Libby Meyer
PLEASE NOTE: Stage 32 Happy Writers has an agreement with the individuals listening to Stage 32 member pitches. These companies do NOT accept unsolicited material. Do not reach out to the executives directly as they do not accept unsolicited material. Please do not try to contact the industry professional (“Executive”) before or after the pitch UNLESS you are specifically asked to. Failure to heed these guidelines will result in your being banned from participating in Stage 32 events and services. Executives do not appreciate being cold-emailed by strangers.
PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES
LIVE PITCH SESSIONS
Live sessions are done over Skype or telephone. Sessions done over Skype are face-to-face with executives using a webcam. These sessions are 8 minutes long, and you will receive a verbal warning when there are 2 minutes left. We recommend keeping your pitch to 4-6 minutes to allow room for questions and answers at the end.
When signing up for an executive, choose your preferred time and sign up. You will receive a follow-up email from us with complete instructions. Make sure you are online or by the phone at the scheduled time of your live pitch. If we are unable to reach you via Skype due to technical errors or limitations, we will call you via telephone.
If you are outside of the U.S., you must use Skype as we do not place phone calls internationally. Please note that there may be a delay of up to 10 minutes during sold out and/or busy sessions. If you are experiencing technical difficulties during your session, please contact assistant@Stage32.com
Written submissions are two pages maximum (NO EXCEPTIONS) and must be submitted as a PDF or WORD document. Please include your full name and email address in the upper-right hand corner of your written pitch. All written material must be uploaded NO LATER than 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the session via the dropbox link you will receive after signing up. Any material uploaded past this deadline will not be shown to the executive and will result in a non-refundable forfeiture of your pitch.
SCORECARDS & FEEDBACK
Within 3 weeks of your pitch session, you will receive a Stage 32 scorecard (click here to see an example) filled out by the executives (please allow for up to 4 weeks for sold out and/or busy sessions). On it, the executive will note if they are PASSing, or if they would like to REQUEST your material. This scorecard will also include feedback on your pitch and story. If you have any additional questions email WriterHelp@Stage32.com.
Please remember that feedback is not personal. It is an honest accounting of the executive's reaction to your pitch material. Executives have tastes and opinions like anyone else. A common adage in the entertainment industry is "look for the note behind the note", and we encourage writers who use our services to do the same.
