Wes Ambrecht is a Film Producer, bleeding-heart romantic and a self-proclaimed Renaissance Man. Wes produces independently on projects including The Middle, Killing Animals, The Most Important Thing, and The Last Night. Wes also scouts for Paper Plane Entertainment, the burgeoning bi-coastal management and production company working on the upcoming feature TAKING ORDERS, and run by Byron Beane (SARAH'S KEY, REMEMBRANCE, "Livin' the Dream"). He is also on the board of the by women/for women studio We Do It Together.
Recently, Wes served as the Director of Development for Viewfinder Pictures lead by industry veteran Carol Polakoff, where he helped set up projects at FX, HBO and Amazon. Wes sourced new projects including acquiring the series rights to Time Bomb and adaptation of Lt. Ramsey's War, both with Oscar nominated screenwriter Stephen Rivele, as well as rights to adaptations of Beating Back the Devil and Manhunt. He also worked on project in development including "The Iron King" with FX Networks, ON BEAUTY with Ruby Films (THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS, SUFFRAGETTE), JOHN HENRY F**KING BROWNE with Vast Entertainment, SECRET SKYE with Anima Pictures and an Untitled Cyber Crime Series from Ed Burns ("The Wire").
Wes has worked closely with James Franco's Rabbit Bandini Productions, producing both KILLING ANIMALS and the digital project "Departure.” He also worked in the Motion Picture Literary department at the Gersh Agency.
Tips on pitching to Wes Ambrecht
Within 15 minutes of your scheduled pitch, the exec will reach out by Skype or Phone. Your pitch session will last approximately 8 minutes.
Written Pitches will be no more than 2 pages submitted as a PDF or WORD document. Any written pitch uploaded past the deadline will not be shown to the executive and will result in a non-refundable forfeiture of your pitch.
Within 3-4 weeks of your pitch session, you will receive a Pitch Scorecard on which the exec you pitched will provide pitch feedback and note if they are PASSing, or would like to REQUEST your material.
If you are requested, you will be notified via email with further instructions. The execs will have 2-3 months to review your material and note if they are PASSing, or would like a MEETING. If a meeting is requested, we will introduce you via email.
Please understand that these are working executives, and their schedules are subject to change at a moment's notice. We always strive to give you at least 24 hours of notice if a session has been cancelled, and we will recommend another executive for you to pitch your material to.
