"Ekaterina" is a musical based on the secret diaries of the notorious Russian empress, Catherine the Great. We first see her on her deathbed, making her final confession to an Orthodox archbishop. As she recalls the major events of her life--her childhood as a minor German princess, her disastrous marriage and various love affairs, her triumphs and disappointments--are acted out by the ensemble members who appear as the ghosts of her past.
Large cast of 37 actor-singer-dancers, all of whom perform multiple roles under the Actors' Equity Favored Nations agreement's "as cast" clause.
Orchestra, minimum of 24 musicians who receive parity with the cast according to Local 82 requirements.
Period costumes and multiple, rapidly changing locales achieved with minimal scenic pieces and rear projections and lighting effects.
