Story Synopsis: This is a story based on true life events of Matthew Carter. It tells how he survived dealing with bisexuality growing up in the black church, being bullied, and attacked to the point that he was almost killed more than once. He survived the attacks only to find out his ex-boyfriend gave him HIV. During a time he was dealing with a lot of depression and trying to find himself, Matthew is attacked many times by his enemies with hopes of breaking him down. Just when death seemed definite, Matthew is saved by an angel of God and decides fight to save his friends and all he can throughout the world; after a transformation that will amaze you.

It’s 2003 and Matthew is dealing with a lot of depression and being shunned by a lot of people in the church because of who he is. After leaving church one night, Matthew is attacked by a gang and ends up in the hospital. He awakens only to find his mother crying over him praying for the demons that make him gay to leave. After realizing her son has awakened, Kimberly begins to bombard her son with questions about his attackers.

Unable to answer any of her questions Matthew drifts back into sleep. The doctor enters the room hoping to get answers to relay to the police about the attack, but Kimberly doesn’t have any. The doctor then leads Kimberly out the room to disclose that Matthew has AIDS and may not survive.

“Maybe it’s for the best!” The doctor tells Kimberly.

“Best for who?” She responds.

When Matthew awakens again he finds his mother crying over him and begins to question her. Trying to keep the truth from her son, Kimberly attempts to act as though her tears are just out of concern. Matthew then tells his mother he heard the conversation between her and the doctor. He then shares that he believes he has HIV because of an unfaithful lover who didn’t tell him about his status.

Just before breaking down, Kimberly reveals that he doesn’t have an HIV diagnosis, but AIDS, and has to be taken out the room. As she is being taken out the room the doctor enters the room to disclose the diagnosis to Matthew.

Concerned about his mother, Matthew ignores the doctor and focuses on the door his mother was taken out of by the nurses. The doctor tries to get Matthews attention as he goes through a list of symptoms that Matthew should be experiencing. Still focusing on the status of his mother and the doorway she was taken out of, Matthew slowly gets up out the bed and slowly begins to walk towards the exit.

Stunned that Matthew is up and walking after reading his chart reflecting a CD4 count of less than 16, the doctor becomes baffled and seems to go into shock himself. Matthew brings him a glass of water. After getting worked up from all the negative comments from the doctor, Matthew interjects and begins to speak of his faith. He asks to doctor to discontinue his comments, agrees to take the medicine suggested, and asks the condition of his mother.

Lying in bed, Matthew seems to be more concerned about his mother, than his own condition and begins to pray for her. While praying he dies only to awake in heaven. After looking around the paradise, Matthew begins to feel lighter than air and at peace. He then hears the voice of God who leads him to a place to show Matthew his funeral. It puts a heavy burden on Matthews’s heart after seeing this, and he begins to say how he desires to live. God then reveals how Matthew still has work to do on earth and sends him back to the time he was in the hospital.

After awaking in the hospital, Matthew sees a man standing over him, who is really an angel, and becomes afraid. With all the noise coming from the room it causes a few nurses to come in to check on him. Matthew continues to get worked up, because he’s unsure of why the nurses can’t see the man. During the commotion the Angel disappears and the nurses are all looking at Matthew as though he is crazy. Matthew then agrees to take the medicine the nurses suggest to calm him down, but refuses to believe he is going crazy.

After a few days in the hospital Matthew has finally been released from the hospital and is greeted by his mother who seems to be calm and at peace. Matthew addresses her and relays a message that came from God. Battling with accepting the message his mother agrees to try as they leave the hospital.

While in his apartment unpacking his things that were brought to him at the hospital, the same Angel appears again in his bedroom. Startled and confused that he can be seen, the Angel questions Matthew. He then explains to Matthew that he must be the pure heart he was looking for and wants to know if he is willing to accept his cross.

Matthew is unaware of the demonic attacks that have been made on his life until now, and after accepting his cross his spiritual eyes are opened. With accepting his cross, Matthew has now opened a door that causes more attacks on his life, because Satan himself wants his soul.

Now aware of the enemy Matthew begins to gain spiritual strength and does his best to focus on being positive and praying more. The victory in his room crippled his spiritual enemy, which gives him time to pull it together emotionally.

Angered by the victory, Satan begins to send stronger warriors to overcome Matthew, break his spirit, and take his soul. The warriors begin to poses Matthews’s friends and others to break Matthew physically as well as spiritually. With each attack, Matthew grows stronger, but is unaware of the watchfulness and protection of the Angel he met in his room.

After having a gun pointed in his face by someone he called a friend that tried to rob him, Matthew heads home. As he is getting out of his car, Matthew is attacked by a drug addict who has become possessed. The drug addict hits Matthew in the head with a bed rail causing a gash in his forehead. Unaware of his slight transformation, Matthew goes into battle mode and begins attacking the drug addict with a steering wheel club.

As Matthew throws down the club, the police and ambulance pull up. The police begin asking questions of the neighbors watching and find out Matthew was defending himself. After checking on the drug addict they realize it was someone that has been wanted for quite some time. After speaking with the officer and assuring him that he would be ok, Matthew goes into the house and falls asleep before driving himself to the hospital to have his wound checked.

A few weeks later Matthew is greeted by his friends at his job who wonder why he has been missing in action. Matthew explains he needed time to just be alone after everything that has been going on. This also gave his demonic enemies time to recuperate and plan another attack.

While at work, one of the guests becomes a huge target for one of Satan’s warriors. He possesses the drunken man who begins to cause a huge commotion in the restaurant and harass the employees. Matthew makes many attempts to get the manger to do something about the unruly guest, but she decides to send the guest over to apologize to Matthew since he was the last person to be insulted.

After offering a false apology to Matthew, the drunken guest becomes enraged after being questioned on the sincerity of his actions. He is then taken over by the demon that has possessed him and attacks Matthew. At that moment the Angel that has been protecting Matthew known as War-Angel appears and fuses with Matthew to fight. All hell literally breaks loose in the middle of the restaurant.

Matthew defeats his attacker and another foe seems to be preparing to attack him. Someone who has been secretly following Matthew for some time now finally makes herself known to help get him out of the building before things get worse. Aware of the danger that is approaching, Sonya forces Matthews friends get it together to get out of the restaurant.

As they begin driving away from the danger, Sonya begins to fill Matthew in on his destiny. In shock at the news he just received Matthew becomes speechless. As he is trying to take in the information he received the danger they were trying to escape finds them and causes Matthew and Derrick to be flung from the vehicle as the monster continues to pursue the vehicle.

Upon gathering themselves together, Matthew and Derrick make an attempt to come together as they watch Sonya drive up a mountain making all attempts to shake the monster. They are then surrounded by hands that have emerged from the earth that grab them and begin to pull them both into the earth.

At the last moment when it seemed both Matthew and Derrick are destined to die, Matthews prayer is answered, and an Angel appears slicing and cutting away the demonic hands pulling them into the earth. Matthew then asks the Angels to help his friends that were being chased on the mountain, only to be told he would have to do it.

After gaining some understanding of what the Angels have told him, Matthew undergoes another transformation that awakens the Angel that lies dormant within him after the battle at the restaurant. Once the transformation is complete and Matthew becomes the War-Angel in full force, he launches several attacks to save his friends on the mountain.

When he defeats the monster he then saves his comrades from a crumbling mountain and takes them to a safe place. Matthew returns to his normal self and gazes off into the stars while Keyon reunites with Derrick who embraces him. Derrick doesn’t seem to be too excited to see the gang as he embraces Keyon and gazes at Matthew with a look that could kill.
