Thomas Paine; hero of the American Revolution, is invited to take part in France’s monumental war of liberation. However, he runs afoul of Robespierre, the head of the rapacious Jacobins, and ends up in jail during the height of what has come to be known as “The Terror.” He awaits his death by guillotine, praying every moment that an intervention from Washington will save him. The cast includes several parts for young men and one young woman. A role for a mature actor--40s - 60s -- is also available.
The reading will be held at the City College of The City University of New York.
