Karen is a multi-award winning creative professional filmmaker and entrepreneur with a highly successful career spanning over 15 years in the film and television industry with qualifications and experience in advertising. This track record has led to her judging as well as attending the Australian Film Industry (AACTA/AFI) awards, now a grand craft juror. Working in Australian film and commercial television on internationally acclaimed productions, has further enabled her to develop skills/experience worldwide including working for Andrew Denton’s production company Zapruder’s Other Films, Fox Studios, US, Europe, Hawaii and in the Asia-Pacific region.
Pursuits outside work include contributing towards philanthropic causes. Additionally as an accomplished artist plus musician with an ongoing interest in wildlife rescue, a posting with the Australian Embassy overseas in diplomatic life inspired a wide range of subjects including mentorship of young people with a natural passion for human rights activism. Her current focus is on producing independent humanitarian documentaries. Karen has also recently won an IndieFest Film Award and Best Shorts Competition, as well as having been nominated for both Australian of the Year and the Telstra Business Women’s Awards. The most rewarding part of the journey has definitely been 'the people that you meet ~ when you're walking down the street…’
