I'm a writer, artist and teacher. I was born in Warwickshire, grew up in rural Wales and studied at Durham University, Leeds University and the Northern Film School.
As a writer, I have thus far published poetry, children's fiction and placed highly in a number of well-known feature-length screenplay competitions. I prefer co-writing when it comes to screenplays and I've been lucky to find the perfect writing partner in Keith Dando. I must also confess a slight preference for film over TV... though not necessarily from a viewing POV.
As an artist, I specialise in botanical painting and children's illustrations. I work chiefly in watercolour and use cruelty-free paper and paints.
On the teaching front, I've taught English and lectured in screenwriting at a number of different institutions, most recently at Leeds Beckett University. Encouraging new writers and helping them give shape to their ideas is one of the most rewarding things I do.
I am currently pursuing new writing goals and hoping to embark on a PhD within the next year.
