Acting : A Suggestion; maybe an opportunity for actors too ? by Joaquín Carrasquilla

I don't think it can because of nature of the mediums: writing vs acting. Big part of what's making the writing side successful is they teaching people through their classes how to write better and how to pitch better. Industry folk see the quality thats coming through from here, so have become open to receiving people's materials plus the writing students here learning better how to package themselves and get their materials in front of people. Different animal with acting. 1-Hard to teach acting on the web. 2- Our side of the business is a very different system for getting work than theirs. But that said, I'm open. Why don't you complete your thought with specifics on how you think it might work?

Well thank you Chris, I think this website have already a very nice reputation with producers also in the Industry, and a captive line of high profile professionals. I think that's nothing it's impossible, and believe I really think that, and I think that was the same thinking that all the founders of this website thought when they've decided to make it. I have the feeling that because, the Hollywood productions are spreading all over different states and other countries, will be easier for anyone, to make auditions online by Skype, for casting agents they could be in their homes or any part of the world, also for the actors, and I think this will be happening maybe in 5 years. Regarding the teaching of acting, they are many actor around the world, that already have professional studies in their countries or also in the USA or other countries, many actors work more that Hollywood actors for Latin soap operas and independent or local films they are big stars in many countries, also for example in my country actors from Turkish soap operas are in a big hype well as in many countries. So I think also would be very entertaining doing the same thing teaching acting through Skype, with Skype conferences you can have more than one playing a scene, etc... people could upload monologues, and place their credits too. Casting agents or produces, could see their IMDB credits as well. Another idea, is that actors could upload their professional work to the website too. Also I see that many of the writers, producers that a are already part of Stage 32 are actors too, they could help each other by hiring each other in their projects. And another final Idea, actors could play parts of the scripts presented here to give a more vivid idea of the script. I know that Actor Access already offer online auditions but I think you have more potential to offer. Well I hope all this makes sense.

Chris is quite correct. Very different animal. There are reasons too numerous to name. Having said that, I can tell you that we have a ton of casting directors on this site. High profile ones. We also work with dozens of acting professionals to bring education to the community as well. This site is all about being visible and making connections. I know of two actors and one actress in the last week who landed gigs on this site through a casting director in their area and it began by being active in the Acting Lounge. That casting director went to the profile pages, checked out their headshots and reels and invited them down to audition. That's the beauty of social media in action. The common thread between all three was that they were active, visible and had completed bios and profiles. Take matters into your own hands...Control what you control...Win every day.
