Best ways to prep for a role?

Hey everyone, I am looking to expand my skill set, so I am looking for great tips/techs/ideas to prep for an upcoming role? Thanks for the help. Cheers, Erik

I don't know the context of the production or the details of the role itself. Perhaps you'll find what I have to say to be obvious (and something you already do), but I've seen actors who, in my view, neglected the obvious. So, just in case... I'd suggest you start by looking at what's on the page and asking yourself questions such as 'What is this character is thinking and feeling? Based on that, how might this character interact with other characters as the scene(s) unfold? What kind of movement might be appropriate? Etc.' And if after that, you don't have what you think is a good approach to the role, I'd ask the director. OK. If the director is pushed for time, you might get only a brief and/or unsatisfactory answer but maybe you'll hear something helpful. Or run the lines with an actor pal and get another viewpoint. And look up Michael Caine's videos on acting on the web. I think you'll find them helpful. Good luck.
