Hello my name is Ciara and I was wondering if anyone could help me or give me some advice? I have always done acting and I do love it but I'm looking to take a more creative approach to my career and try directing but I've no idea where to start or how to go about this can anyone help?

Decide what kind of story you want to tell first. 1. Pull out your smart phone, film as you walk, and talk about what you are filming. This is an incredibly easy way to learn to tell a story. 2. Then write or find a one minute monologue and film a friend doing it three or four times. Direct how you want to see the monologue. Change up the light each time, and you learn how the mood changes. These are two basic things you can do on your own before learning all the myriad techniques of making even a 5 minute short. You are also learning without any time, location or crew pressure.
