Film Resume - Where to Start?

Hello everyone!

It's been a long time since I posted and got involved with the Stage 32 Community.

I was wondering if someone could give me tips in regards to creating a film resume with experience in:

• Film Directing (Directed three short films, one of the short films I made this year won Best Original Story but got nominated for Best Director and Best Picture.)

• Screenwriting (I wrote three short films in which the third won Best Original Story.)

• Production Assistant (I got involved with a non-union production and a professional independent production)

• Assistant Director (Currently helping out with a non-union production)

• Acting (I have two theatre roles, six on screen roles).

I am looking to get more involved with professional film productions after getting more experience during the first six months of this year but I don't know where to start despite having an idea of what I want to do. Would anybody be willing to point me in the right direction?

My questions are:

1. Do I need to create a separate resume for each position I want to get involved in or can I do it all in one?

2. What are certain details professionals will be looking for upon resumes with this level of experience?

3. If your only experience you have from learning how to write/direct comes from being on-set or theatre, what would be the best way to go on about providing those details?

Speaking only to the acting side of things, your resume should only highlight speaking roles. In “special skills” you can certainly list your experience in other departments. And training, training, training will be what perks the interest of potential “buyers”. Everyone understands that you start somewhere, and training is what shows your serious and know what you’re doing. As a side note, some actors will lie on their resume, or try to pass off background work as speaking roles. Don’t lie. Be honest. Hopefully someone else can speak to the crew side of things, though my instinct is that you need a separate resume for each department/discipline.
