Acting : In person or self tape auditions by Jason Raymaker

I believe in-person auditions are more effective, while self-taping is more efficient.

In person, you’re able to receive immediate verbal feedback and adjust your performance in real time, which can be incredibly valuable. With self-tapes, you have the advantage of choosing your best take and doing multiple retakes, but the direct feedback based on your performance is more limited.

There’s a clear trade-off between the two—it ultimately depends on your strengths as a performer and how you approach the audition process.

I don't know about in person auditions being more effective as far as landing the part, and I haven't had too many in person auditions where I have received immediate feedback. Usually it's audition, a short convo, "We'll be in touch." It's not an acting class. Do you get feedback at auditions Timothy Miller ? Occassionally, they may want you to do it differently, but they can do that with a self tape as well. That's also what callbacks are for. What do you mean by more effective Jason Raymaker ? Do you mean for you personally as an actor, or do you mean as booking roles goes?

I actually prefer self tape for film and television as I can like Timothy said, do it multiple times until I have a take I am satisfied with. Sometimes it's hard to find a reader, but in person auditions, the reader is not an actor, so they don't give you much to work with. Theater is best in person. And there are other actors to read with. But again, I don't get feedback from the director.

hi Suzanne Bronson, we all know that only one person gets the role. So the chances of getting it are pretty slim. But you can always increase your chances by upping your skills. But by being effective I mean making the best impression with the time that you have.
