Mark's my hero!

After much outcry... but certainly a supportive act! Very cool! Hopefully more will choose to be a part of change. :)))

Celebrity Pay scales are relevant to Q values. It's marketing and mass appeal. But I'd be curious to see a breakdown of films with Q values of performers in different territories and their relative pay scales etc. Just to see the data on exactly how this shakes out when you take into account the marketing aspect of it. Fine gesture from Mark though. Very cool.

Michael, yeah, sure, market value. But let's not forget that Williams is a top-award-winning talent. What I found telling is that both Wahlberg and Williams are represented by the same talent agency. So the same talent agency negotiated 1.5 million for their male client and around $800 ($80 a day) for their female client for the same film for the same job for the same amount of work—we're talking only for an additional 10 days of reshoots due to replacing Spacey. Their shared agency, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, is also now donating $500,000 to the Time's Up fund, but they have much to answer and explain. They made a statement that they wish to be part of the solution to end inequality and the gender pay gap. Hopefully, they and other talent agencies will indeed help because clearly, they and their deal-making are a huge part of the problem. I hope this is not just a PR stunt made only because of the exposure and outcry over this staggering pay gap between their two clients. We can hope. :)

My point was only that there's a precedent for certain names that dictates what those people will earn by default. Their own track record of proven ticket sales dictates it. So whatever the salary on the film was, the reshoots is probably comparable. Michelle Williams is a name now but her track record for a long time was in arthouse films. It could be a past that haunts her financially. Even though the films were terrific and probably very successful given their smaller budgets.

If ATMITW is her film and she's the lead she should by default earn the highest salary. If she's carrying the entire film and her name is drawing the people in, there's no excuse for her not to be the highest paid actor in the cast. That's my personal opinion. However as it's been explained to me by producers I've talked to, it's about the PnA campaign and who's face and name is on that box cover or poster and whether that's why people will buy a ticket. So, yeah, marketing.

I'm sure it'll take a while for the whole thing to restructure. I'd like to see the whole Q value thing disappear altogether. For this to be less about algorithms and marketing and A, B or C listers and for it to be about the work and the talent.
