Union Eligibility

Hey Peeps, I am an actor currently seeking his union eligibility and I was wondering if there is an SAG-AFTRA actor/actress that would be willing to help me out with. If your interested in helping a fellow entertainer out please send me a message. Thanks a bunch and happy networking!!!

Laura LaMonaco

Don't be in a hurry to become union. Get an agent that takes non-union first or a talent manager. Let the agent send you out on the auditions that we don't see on the breakdowns. Production can and will hire non-union actors if they are right for the part. join community theater, submit to internet projects, student projects and don't limit yourself. I am currently taking on new actors for management. Send me your resume and head shot with a cover letter if you are interested in an interview.

Thanks Laura, I am not really trying to become Union right away. I would like to just get my eligibility so when I have a solid resume and a strong reel then I can just start the process. I am currently on Actor's Access and LA casting submitting to all the roles that I feel right for. I will also send you my information today. Thanks again

Sounds great :)

Are you represented by anyone? I would suggest looking for SAG new media projects that are union because that is the easiest way to get your eligibility. It's actually what I'm looking to do if I can find a SAG actor who wants to help

If any of you guys are interested, a friend of mine is doing a web series and he is looking for actors for it. It is a SAG web series so you would gain SAG eligibility. It would be filmed in the Los Angeles area in a couple weeks. The catch is that he's looking for the actors to each put about $150 to help fund the project. It also would look good on a reel the first episode they did was hilarious. this would be the second episode.

According to SAG-AFTRA, web series no longer count in obtaining eligibility. Highly recommend to contact your closest SAG-AFTRA office. The last I was informed via SAG-AFTRA you needed 3 days of work on an eligible SAG-AFTRA project, I.e. SAG-AFTRA ULB project. Unless it's recently changed, web series no longer count.

Dan LaRoy

I believe what it is, is extra work on Web series doesn't count. You need a speaking part. If you are getting in by extra work you must show that you were paid the sag rate of 148/8

Yea Dan is right. The Web series still gives you your eligibility as long as you are principal. However, I was told that after the new year the fee is jumping up to 5000. Dan I would like more information about your friend's project. Thanks

Lori Johnson

The best advice is contact your closest SAG-AFTRA office and they will give you the CORRECT information.

The phone number you need to ask what will or won't get you eligibility is 323.549.6769
