If you want to apreciate computer animation than you need to see it from the beginning

I found some interesting computer graphics TV shows I used to watch back in the early 90's. This was a time before PC's were cheap enough for the average person to own and the maximum power one had was 64mb. In this world a company called Main Frame used computer mainframes, which by the way each were the size of refrigerators, had big tape drives for info storage and retrieval, looked like open reels and was noisy as all get up. Today my PC has much more processing power than those computers and yet they managed to push them to their processing limits to create 4 seasons worth of computer generated tv shows. Reboot was the first all CG show of it's kind and I admit most entertaining. The other all CG show made by Main Frame was Beast Wars. Make sure you pay close attention to the quality of the graphics, this was done with 8bit technology which was huge in those days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBLcGs1czck

I remember coming across ReBoot back in the day and immediately falling in love with the potential. It's the biggest reason I decided to get involved in computer animation and for my money it still holds up pretty well, all things considered, especially the last season and the movies.

I'm glade you liked it too, it was state of the art back then and I still enjoy watching it sometimes. Now MainFrame is back and they're doing a reboot of Reboot. With today's new tech, it should look really good. I'm a filmmaker, I just got into animation about a year ago. It is a lot more work then making a film and I suppose it will take me years to get up to speed, but I love it.

I'm looking forward to its return. I'm also inching my way into computer animation... it isn't as easy as i thought, but it's becoming a hell of a lot more fun as I get up to speed.

I know, it's really something to see how computer animation has matured and I believe there's more to come. I just saw the latest Deus Ex trailer. CGI has stepped up to photorealistic 4K quality. I'm not there yet, I'm still working on 2K 3D. I do plan to sink the money into Maya LT since all the big boys use it, so if I'm going to get series, I'll have to take the financial plunge. There goes the rest of my money.
