RIP Jack N. Young, stuntman for Chuck Connors, Clark Gable and a plethora of others.

Jack N. Young, a member of the Hollywood community as a stunt man, location scout and later in his life, screenwriter, passed on today at the age of 91.

A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Jack at the Flagstaff Film Festival. He was one of those guys for whom you take an instant liking. We chatted at the fest, and realizing we lived in the same town and he wanted to write western screenplays, we had him over for dinner one evening. I gave him a copy of Movie Magic I had won in a fest, and away he went. He penned a western script that was pretty dang good. In fact, his fight scenes were the best action sequences I have ever read.

In The Misfits he did stunts for Clark Gable and looked so much like him, they even did close ups on Jack. He was severely trampled in The Alamo, worked as a location scout and was always pleasant to be around.

Man he could spin a tale or two. If his collection of Hollywood stories gets published, I'll let you all know. Some juicy, hysterical tales of production, what happens off set and well... amazing stories that should be spun around campfires.

As I look up above my computer screen above the file menu, I see his picture on the wall in my office. A great shot of Jack as a gunslinger that he was kind enough to sign. Happy Trails, Amigo! I heard tell you don't get cactus burrs in your saddle in the afterlife.

This is lovely! A fine tribute. Very classy Philip!

Philip Sedgwick

Thank you, James. A stuntman, especially one with the long career of Jack, needs all the credit they can get. No doubt most of us on here have seen him get punched in the mug, tossed from a horse, or fallen from a facade!

Stuntmen deserve more credit than they get!

No doubt they should have some sort of notable award category.

I would love to read those stories!

Our friend, Jack Young. What a great guy. I enjoyed the night he came over to have dinner with us. Glad we got to see him at the recent Tucson Filmmakers meeting.

Julie, I will let you know if they get published. I have read them as he sent them to me when we first met, and I would eagerly buy the book.
