What do you do in your 8 minutes Skype pitch?

My Skype pitch this week was not good. I was reading my synopsis and clearly nobody likes it. The thing is I wrote a comedy, but I am not funny. How to pitch? What do you do in your 8 minutes Skype pitch?

Thanks Joey.

I may confess I'm shy at pitching, that's why I've opted for the Written submission. Best of luck with your future pitches Ye!

Did my first live pitch this Friday (done two video before). I told the story, as best I could, in a short time frame, using storyboards. Before hand I had been practicing... probably dozens of times, for days, just to remember it all, and keep it short and compelling. Also helps for overcoming nerves & rambling. And I WAS nervous. Had I not practiced like crazy, no way I would have managed to get through it all. Pitching, just like writing, is an art form, and having one skill does not mean you instantly have the other. But! You can learn it and practice it and refine with time. You can also film a video pitch. The downside (and it's a doozy, trust me) is you get no back and forth, cannot answer questions, etc. The upside is you can edit, get it as informative, entertaining, and short as possible, and it eliminates the possibility of falling apart due to performance anxiety. Might not be bad to have some notes on hand though. I had some of my other log lines written down on a piece of paper, as I had enough on my plate memorizing the main pitch, though it never went in that direction. It's not unheard of for a producer to ask "What else do you have?" after all. Got some very good advice from Jennifer Au (she's very nice, btw) before it ended though, and it left me confident that the pitch, with a little tweaking, the right person, and the right time, has a strong chance at success. All in all, a very positive experience.
